Statement of Faith

Religious Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, and that this salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and not as a result of good works.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to perform good works.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the sufficiency of God's grace and the power of prayer to comfort, heal, and sustain believers through all circumstances of life.

The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe as interpreted and applied by our governing board.

Statement on Compassion and Service

We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God and possess inherent dignity and worth. We are called by Christ to minister to the suffering, to be present with those in pain, to offer comfort and hope grounded in the Gospel, and to demonstrate practical love through service. The ministry of Comfort of Christ is dedicated to reflecting Christ's compassion and to being a tangible expression of His love in the world.

Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality

We believe marriage that is sanctioned by God joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that sexual activity is designed by God to be expressed only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality, including sexual activity outside of marriage, is contrary to God's design.

Qualifications of Members, Staff and Volunteers

All members of the Board of Directors, all employees, all volunteers that work directly with clients or recipients of ministry, and all committee members shall be committed Christians with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a genuine love for His work. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the purposes and mission of Comfort of Christ, and to provide a Christian witness to those we serve and to the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Comfort of Christ, or who serve as volunteers working directly with those receiving ministry, are in agreement with the mission statement and objectives of Comfort of Christ. Therefore, all board directors, employees, and volunteers who work directly with those receiving ministry shall sign an agreement that they will abide by the Statement of Faith, Statement of Biblical Authority, Statement on Compassion and Service, and Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality contained in this Article, and shall adhere to all requirements established in the Organization's policies and handbooks.
